A partnership built with the host country
SYMBIORIZ starts from the site proposed by the authorities. Each criterion expresses an objective; when the land departs from it, the partners look for the solution together and measure its cost.
What we look for in a site
Water all year round
River, lake or aquifer; otherwise reservoirs, boreholes or solar pumping.
Suitable terrain
Ideally flat; otherwise basins, terraces and stepped paddies.
The right size
Ideally 1,000 ha in one block, or several nearby plots; 100 ha for a module.
A warm climate
Tropical or subtropical, for two rice harvests a year.
No primary forest
Savannah and degraded land preferred; never primary forest, protected areas or protected wetlands.
Secure land
A long lease, the agreement of communities, and no resident displaced against their will.
Access
A usable road and a market within reasonable distance; otherwise cold chain and on-site processing.
Zero chemicals
No synthetic chemicals on the farm, in accordance with the ecological charter.
A contribution in kind, with no public debt
The project relies on private investment and a public-private partnership: no public borrowing is requested.
- A letter of interest and a ministerial focal point
- The proposed site and, if possible, additional plots
- The land, under a long-term lease
- Permits and legal investment guarantees
- Access up to the site
Decisions taken together, step by step
- AgreementLetter of interest and memorandum of understanding.
- Site studyTechnical mission and proposed adaptations.
- FeasibilityWater, soils, biodiversity, impact, market.
- ConstructionEarthworks, buildings, energy, planting.
- ProductionFirst harvests, academy, first visitors.
Each step ends with a joint decision of the steering committee. The detailed implementation plan is provided to interested governments.
